BizRefine supports Word 2016 (build 16.0.6769 or later), Word 2019, Word 2021, and all editions of Microsoft 365 on both Windows and Mac. It also works fully on Word Online in any modern browser (Chrome, Edge, Firefox). Word 2013 and earlier are not supported. For the best experience, Microsoft 365 is recommended.
Document text is sent to our Flask backend for analysis and then discarded. If you choose to use the Cross-Document RAG feature and explicitly store a document, vector embeddings (not the raw text) are stored in your company's private Pinecone namespace. Each company's data is fully isolated by their company ID. You can delete stored documents at any time from the document library.
Grammarly focuses on grammar, style, and spelling only. Copilot is a generative assistant — it writes new content but does not audit existing documents for structural compliance. Neither tool detects contradictions between sections of the same document, checks your document against your organization's past documents for conflicts, scores compliance against a specific document schema, or emails a full compliance report to your review team. BizRefine does all four.
RAG stands for Retrieval-Augmented Generation. BizRefine converts your organization's past documents into vector embeddings and stores them in Pinecone (a cloud vector database). When you analyse a new document, BizRefine retrieves the most semantically similar sentences from your past documents and checks whether any claims in the new document contradict them. For example: "Your 2024 proposal said the delivery timeline is 8 weeks. This proposal says 12 weeks." This catch is impossible for standard grammar checkers.
Yes. BizRefine uses a company-based multi-tenant model. An admin registers the company and can invite team members, each with their own login. All members of the same company share access to the same document library and RAG knowledge base, while their individual sessions remain private.
No. BizRefine requires an internet connection because the AI analysis runs on our cloud backend (Flask server + Groq LLM API + Pinecone). The Word add-in itself is just a lightweight task pane UI — all the intelligence lives in the cloud. This means your laptop doesn't need any GPU or heavy local software; a standard office machine with internet access is enough.
